Figs with Prosciutto and Goats Cheese

This is a super easy recipe that takes only 15 minutes, uses only 4 ingredients and still manages to impress. Like any recipe that is this simple, the quality of the ingredients is really important. We have used Meredith Goats Cheese, San Daniele Prosciutto, Australian Bush Honey and the freshest of figs (wait till figs are in season so they are at their best).

Make them as a canape on an elegant platter to pass around at a party or serve them as an entrรฉe/ appetizer at a more intimate gathering on a simple bed of dressed rocket. Which ever way you choose to serve these delicious little morsels, your guests will be super impressed (don’t tell them how easy this is ๐Ÿ™‚ ).

Equipment

  • 1 baking tin

Ingredients

  • 12 Fresh figs (medium size)
  • 12 Slices of prosciutto (ask for it to be sliced as thin as possible)
  • 1/2 cup Goats cheese (soft and crumbly type)
  • 1/4 cup Honey (for drizzling)

Instructions

  • Pre heat oven to 200 degree Celsius (fan forced)
  • Cut the top off the fig where the stem is (see video for detail)
  • Cut the fig by scoring a cross in the top to open it up (see video)
  • Stuff figs with 1 heaped teaspoon of goats cheese each
  • Wrap each fig with 1 piece of prosciutto
  • Place wrapped figs on parchment/ baking paper on baking tray and pop in the oven for 15 minutes
  • Remove figs from the oven and allow to cool slightly
  • Prosciutto should be crisp, figs soft but not mushy and goats cheese melted
  • If serving as a canape arrange figs on a large platter and then drizzle with honey
  • If serving as an appetizer divide figs amongst four plates (perhaps on a bed of dressed rocket)
  • Enjoy warm (not hot as figs can retain their heat and burn your mouth if too hot)
