- butter
- brown sugar
- caster sugar
- eggs
- vanilla extract
- baking powder
- flour
- chocolate chips
Tips for the Best Chocolate Chip Cookies:
- Soften the Butter: Ensure your butter is soft but not melted to achieve the perfect texture.
- Use Egg Yolks: By using only egg yolks, your cookies will be extra soft.
- Chill the Dough (Optional): If you prefer thicker cookies, you can chill the dough for 30 minutes before baking.
- Don’t Overbake: Keep an eye on the cookies while baking; they should still be slightly soft in the centre when removed from the oven.

Storage Tips
Although this Easy Chocolate Chip Cookies Recipe make the most delicious cookies that never last very long in my house, below are some storage tips for those with more will power.
Storing at Room Temperature
To keep your cookies soft and fresh for up to 5 days, store them in an airtight container at room temperature. Add a slice of bread to the container; this will help retain moisture and keep your cookies soft.
Freezing the Dough
Want to save some dough for later? You can easily freeze the cookie dough! Roll the dough into balls, place them on a baking sheet, and freeze for 1-2 hours. Once frozen, transfer the dough balls to a resealable plastic bag or airtight container. The dough can be frozen for up to 3 months. When you’re ready to bake, simply place the frozen dough balls on a baking tray and bake for a few extra minutes—no need to thaw!
Freezing Baked Cookies
If you’d like to store baked cookies for a longer period, freeze them in a single layer on a baking sheet until firm, then transfer them to a freezer-safe bag or container. They can be stored for up to 3 months. To enjoy, simply thaw them at room temperature or warm them in the oven for a few minutes.

Easy Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe
Equipment
- 2 baking trays
Ingredients
- 180 grams softened butter
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 1/3 cup caster sugar
- 2 egg yolks room temperature
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 2 cups flour
- 1 cup chocolate chips
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Dough
- Preheat your oven to 170°C (338°F) and line a baking tray with parchment paper. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and caster sugar until the mixture is light and fluffy.
Step 2: Add Wet Ingredients
- Add the egg yolks and vanilla extract to the butter-sugar mixture, beating until everything is well combined. The egg yolks will give your cookies a rich, chewy texture.
Step 3: Combine Dry Ingredients
- In a separate bowl, sift together the flour and baking powder. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until a soft dough forms. Once mixed, fold in the chocolate chips until they are evenly distributed.
Step 4: Roll Out the Dough
- Take small portions of dough and gently roll them into balls, about the size of a walnut. Place them onto the prepared baking tray, leaving space between each ball as they will spread during baking. (You may need two trays).
Step 5: Bake to Perfection
- Place the tray in the preheated oven and bake for 18-20 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown but the centres remain soft. Remove from the oven and allow the cookies to cool completely on the tray.
Step 6: Enjoy!
- Your Easy Chocolate Chip Cookies are now ready to be enjoyed! Whether warm and gooey straight from the oven or cooled to perfection, these cookies are sure to be a hit.
